Nigerian Model, Bakare Mubarak, Honoured At 2020 African Achievers Awards

A Nigerian model and cultural ambassador, Bakare Olalekan Mubarak, was on Saturday, December 5, 2020, honoured at the African Achievers Awards (AAA) 10th Anniversary.

In a letter signed by AAA’s Chairperson, Cllr. Susan Fajana Thomas, Mubarak was invited as a Special Guest and he was honoured at the 2020 Award ceremony under the “African Youth Ambassador”.

The organisers said the honour was in recognition of the 25-year-old’s selfless service towards creating value in Africa.

The Award ceremony, rated by Forbes Magazine as one of the most prestigious award ceremonies on the African continent, has honoured many great African Achievers from African Leaders, Young Achievers, Community Builders to Captains of Industries across the continent.

The notable individuals and organisations who have been honoured at the ceremony include Arch. Bishop Desmond Tutu, Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma (Former African Union Chairperson), H.E. Jakaya Kikwete (former President of the Republic of Tanzania), Dr. Josephine Ojiambo (Deputy Secretary-General of Commonwealth), H.E. Jewel Taylor (Vice President of Liberia), Dr. Margaret Blick Kigozi (University chancellor and sports woman. Currently, she works as a consultant at United Nations Industrial Development Organization), and Divine Ndikhuluka (Former Chairperson, Zimbabwe Chambers of Commerce).

Others are Mr. Walter Nzembe (former Minister of Tourism/Minister of Foreign Affairs Zimbabwe), Late Prof. Attah Mills (former President of Ghana), Mr. Thapelo Olopeng (Minister for Sports and Culture, Botswana), Paricia Lamor (Co-Founder of the Black History Month), Mr. John Momoh (Chairman and Founder of Channels Television), Bill and Melinda Gate Foundation, DFAID, SABC South Africa, Kofi Annan Foundation, and The African Development Bank (AFDB).

The theme for this year’s ceremony is “Harnessing Technology for Africa’s advancement”. Attendees joined the event virtually.

WHO IS BAKARE MUBARAK?

Mubarak is reputed to be the tallest model in Sub-Saharan Africa and stands at an impressive height of 6ft9, about the same height as the current tallest professional model in the world. He is a model, an influencer, an actor and an ex-pageant king (Mr. Kwara international 2015/16, and also Mr. Nigeria International, Kwara 2016/17).

He has numerous awards to his credit. He has worked with renowned brands, such as: Fashion TV, Glo Nigeria, Zenith Bank, First Bank, Afro Tourism, MESS LA, Itel Mobile Nigeria, Top Tea.

 

 

Bakare Mubarak

Mubarak was the youngest of the 16 delegates from across the world that went on the Nigeria Travel Week South-western tour. He has taken the bold step to carry the African culture with his modelling career, hence setting him apart from others in the industry.

The model has also taken part in many humanitarian services as part of his passion and has super projects in the works. He has collaborated with many NGOs and Foundations to project and propagate the agenda of these NGOs and Foundations.
